Earth Day 2026 is this Wednesday, April 22 — and Long Island has a full week of cleanups, nature walks, and community events lined up from Jones Beach to Caumsett State Park. Here's where to show up, what to know, and how to register before spots fill.

Earth Day 2026 falls on Wednesday, April 22 — just two days away. Long Island has a full week of events lined up, from beach and park cleanups at Jones Beach, Caumsett State Park, and Sunken Meadow to nature walks and sustainability fairs across Nassau and Suffolk County.
Jones Beach State Park is one of the anchor cleanup sites on the island this week. Volunteers typically meet near Field 6, bags and gloves provided. The cleanup runs in the morning — usually 9 AM to noon.
Over on the North Shore, Caumsett State Historic Preserve in Lloyd Neck hosts a cleanup and guided nature walk.
Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park runs its own cleanup along the beach and the bluff trail.
The Town of Babylon coordinates one of the larger Earth Day efforts on the South Shore. Check the Town of Babylon website for sign-up details.
In Brookhaven, the town partners with the Long Island Sound Study for shoreline and wetland cleanups. The Town of Brookhaven posts volunteer registration details on its environmental resources page.
The Town of Hempstead runs a series of Earth Day cleanups at local parks and the Hempstead Harbor shoreline.
For most town-run cleanups, yes. Town websites are the best first stop. For state park events, check the New York State Parks calendar.
