Namiro Sushi Rises From Fire, Reopens in Southampton Village

Namiro Sushi opened its doors again May 8 at 76C Jobs Lane in Southampton Village, rebuilt from scratch after a fire in October 2025 cut short what had been a well-received first season on one of the South Fork's most competitive dining streets.

Owner Gary Spangler spent the winter overseeing a full reconstruction of the space. The job replaced not just the dining room interior but also the kitchen equipment and ventilation system. What came back is a refreshed design with an expanded menu, and a new operating calendar: Namiro is now open year-round, a change from the seasonal schedule it launched with.

The night before the official reopening, Spangler held a First Responders Appreciation Night, filling the restaurant with the police officers and firefighters who had worked the scene of the October fire. The gesture landed quietly but pointedly. A lot of new restaurant owners in the Hamptons open, close, and move on when a setback hits. Spangler came back with a thank-you dinner.

Jobs Lane sits in the heart of Southampton Village, a short walk from the train station and one block off Main Street. The block has seen high turnover in recent years as Hamptons-market rents and seasonal demand test operators who are not prepared for a slow November. Namiro's decision to run year-round puts it in a smaller category of village restaurants that treat Southampton as a 12-month destination rather than a summer pop-up.

Namiro focuses on Japanese cuisine, with sushi as the core of the menu. The expanded post-fire menu added small plates and hot dishes to what had been a predominantly sushi and sashimi lineup. Spangler has not disclosed specific price points publicly, but the Southampton market typically positions midrange sushi in the $16-to-$22 per roll range, with omakase options running considerably higher.

The restaurant holds a modest footprint by the standards of the Jobs Lane strip, with seating for about 30 inside. Reservations are available on OpenTable at namirosushi.com. The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday; lunch hours are expected to expand as summer demand builds.

For Spangler, the reopening was the end of a difficult eight months. The fire in October happened mid-season, before most South Fork restaurants close for their winter break, and the damage required a rebuild rather than a repair. A lot of the work happened over the coldest months, which compressed the timeline for getting back before the Hamptons spring season kicked off.
