NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk starts construction on a new ambulatory surgery center on Main Street in Patchogue with six operating rooms, opening in 2026. This follows the full merger and boosts local surgical access for Suffolk County residents.

With Suffolk County's healthcare needs surging amid post-pandemic recovery, NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk in Patchogue has broken ground on a new Main Street ambulatory surgery center featuring **six operating rooms** and four procedure rooms, set to open in 2026.
This state-of-the-art facility on East Main Street in the former Burlington Building will handle same-day surgical procedures, easing pressure on the 306-bed hospital at 101 Hospital Road. The project caps a three-year integration since the March 2022 affiliation with NYU Langone Health, now complete with a full-asset merger.
Since joining NYU Langone, the hospital—formerly Long Island Community Hospital—has transformed services for Patchogue and surrounding areas serving over 400,000 residents. Surgical cases rose more than 50 percent, hospital-acquired conditions dropped 25 percent, and emergency department wait times fell nearly 70 percent. Infusion services for cancer and neurological patients added 4,000 visits since May 2023. Enhanced offerings include robotic surgery, gynecologic oncology, and advanced care at the Knapp Cardiac Care Center. For context on how other regional health systems are expanding, Northwell Health has also been pursuing significant growth across Long Island.
The new center builds on local expansions like NYU Langone Medical Associates—Patchogue at 100 Hospital Road and plastic surgery at 240 Patchogue–Yaphank Road led by Dr. Nabil Kiridly. Leaders like Marc S. Adler, MD, senior vice president and chief of hospital operations, highlight the investment's role in delivering top care close to home. This growth is part of a broader Patchogue's downtown revival that has been reshaping the village's commercial and medical landscape. Meanwhile, Good Samaritan University Hospital opened a $500M Patient Care Pavilion in West Islip, reflecting a wider wave of healthcare investment across Suffolk County.
