Suffolk County saw 284 arrests in the 2nd Precinct alone, with drug crimes leading. Huntington Station incidents highlight robbery and bar busts.

Suffolk County police made 284 arrests year-to-date in the 2nd Precinct covering Huntington, including 172 drug-related cases, as drug offenses surge amid the opioid crisis. Inspector Markus Rivera shared these February 2026 stats at a community meeting, urging residents to watch for scams like gift card fraud and phone spoofing from fake SCPD numbers.
A robbery 3rd degree hit Tuthill Street in Huntington Station, where a victim owed a drug dealer money, got punched, and lost a gold bracelet; police made an arrest. At Sports Bar El Cuscatleco on 137A Broadway, a State Liquor Authority probe with town officials nabbed the owner and two patrons for cocaine possession, citing four violations. Vape shop checks at 20 spots found Danny's Convenience Store and Joe Joe's Convenience non-compliant, leading to two arrests. Domestic incidents reached 192, with 81 criminal cases and 43 arrests; non-fatal overdoses hit four.
The 2nd Precinct logged 24 DWIs and three gang member arrests among the total 284. Site team traffic enforcement visited six high-concern spots, issuing 95 summonses. One fatal accident was reported. Across Suffolk, property crimes like larceny and burglary remain above state averages, while violent crimes have dropped, but drug arrests rise due to opioids like fentanyl and cocaine. New York State Police handled property checks and accidents in Riverhead, Southampton, and Westhampton Beach.
Police warn of mail theft, check washing, fake bail calls for relatives, computer pop-up viruses, and bank rep scams—always call corporate numbers directly. Suffolk's lower-than-average crime rate improves with these efforts.
