Trader Joe's celebrated its eighth Long Island location on February 16 in Miller Place with Brookhaven Councilwoman Jane Bonner. The 9,200-square-foot store at 300 Route 25A hired over 50 crew members.

Long Island's retail landscape just got stronger. Trader Joe's officially opened its doors at 300 Route 25A in Miller Place on February 12, 2026, marking the grocery chain's eighth location on Long Island and third in Suffolk County. Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Jane Bonner celebrated the milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 16, welcoming a business residents have wanted for over 15 years.
The newly constructed 9,200-square-foot store sits in the heart of Miller Place's bustling shopping corridor at 300 Route 25A, directly across from North County Plaza and next door to Walgreens. Store Captain Jimmy Mohrman and his team opened the doors at 9 a.m., offering Trader Joe's signature private-label pantry staples, organic produce, snacks, and frozen meals. The store operates daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The location is part of a larger development project approved by the Brookhaven Town Board in December 2025. A new True Value Hardware store is under construction nearby, with both businesses connected via an interior access road alongside the existing Walgreens and McDonald's.
Trader Joe's hired more than 50 new crew members for the Miller Place location, with additional staff transferred from nearby stores. Councilwoman Bonner praised the opening, stating it "adds convenience for families, creates jobs, and strengthens our local tax base." The store represents a significant win for Brookhaven's Route 25A corridor and the broader Long Island economy. Other retailers have also been expanding across the Island, including Sephora's recent opening at Mayfair Shopping Center in Commack and Zara's first eastern Long Island store at Smith Haven Mall.
