At full capacity, the new facility will produce up to 200,000 meals per day.
Founded in 2016 by childhood friends Matthew Riss and Mark Ciaburri, both Long Island natives, Redefine Meals has grown from a local startup into a company with 25 grab-and-go retail locations across Suffolk County, Nassau County, New York City, and Westchester County.
From Entenmann's Baked Goods to Fresh Meal Prep in North Bay Shore
The Entenmann's factory on Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore has deep roots in the community. The original facility was built in 1961 on five acres and operated as the largest baking plant of its kind in the country for decades. After Entenmann's parent company Bimbo Bakeries USA eventually closed the plant, the space sat underused.
Work began last year to transform the site into a modern, high-volume food manufacturing operation. The project represents a new chapter for a building that many Bay Shore residents still associate with the smell of fresh baked goods.
Factory Outlet Store Planned for Bay Shore Location
Beyond production, the Bay Shore facility will include a factory outlet retail space where customers can purchase meals directly from the source — a move that could draw foot traffic to the area.
Riss and Ciaburri have said they envision hundreds of Redefine Meals locations across the Northeast eventually, with long-term plans to become a national brand. The Bay Shore production facility is the engine that makes that growth possible.
What This Means for Bay Shore and Suffolk County
The expansion brings jobs and economic activity back to a landmark Suffolk County property that had been sitting idle. For Bay Shore residents, it also means a new retail option and the revival of a building that's been part of the community's identity for over 60 years.
